The ‘Fireworks’ songstress has announced that she is taking a break from showbiz. The 27-year-old singer has yet to recover from her devastating divorce with Russell Brand after only 14 months and she insists that she needs to step out of the lime light to do so properly. “I need to let my heart heal”, she reported to the Daily Mirror Newspaper.
Despite blaming her career and excessive travelling as one of the causes of the split, she recently said she doesn’t regret her failed relationship with the Russell. “Actually, it’s really a lesson learned and its super valuable, I could not buy this lesson. And I apply it to my life, I learn and a lot of the time, I get really good material for my songs.”
The brunette-turned-purple beauty – who is now dating Florence and the Machine guitarist, Dan Aykroyd – opens up about her marital troubles in her upcoming no-holds-barred film Katy Perry: Part of Me, which documents her life on tour around the period of her divorce. “The whole movie is about overcoming obstacles, overcoming family, my set of rules and belief systems.”
We hope Ms Perry’s brief break gives her heart the well-deserved TLC it needs.
