Bruno Mars loses his mother to a brain aneurysm

Rihanna has sent her condolences to Bruno Mars after the death of his mother. The Diamonds singer sent the star – real name Peter Hernandez – support on Twitter after his mother passed away on Saturday. She tweeted: “Sending my love and condolences to Bruno Mars at this difficult time! I’m sincerely praying for you bro! #1Love.”

Bruno’s mother, Bernadette Hernandez, was admitted to hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii in a critical condition on Friday, but died the next day of a brain aneurysm.  Rihanna can sympathise with Bruno as last year she lost her beloved grandmother, Clara ‘Dolly’ Braithwaite, and had to cancel shows to fly back to her native Barbados to be with her family and grieve.

A number of other celebrities have since written to Bruno, 27, to offer their support during this difficult time.  Actress Jennifer Love Hewitt – who lost her mother Patricia to cancer last year – wrote: “My heart is breaking for Bruno Mars and his family tonight. I know all too well, too recent and too deep what they are feeling. Nothing in the world like a mother. And nothing can prepare you for the pain of losing one. Sending my condolences.”

Singer Boy George tweeted: “Bruno Mars Thoughts and prayers to you fella. I’m sorry for your loss. Our mothers are goddesses.”  Glee star Amber Riley wrote: “No worse feeling than losing a loved one. My condolences. Prayers for Bruno Mars.”
