How to wash your face using an oil, milk or balm

Non-foaming cleansers are great for using on dry skin caused by foaming agents. The non-foaming formulas help maintain the moisture balance while still deeply cleansing the skin, leaving you with soft, supple skin after cleansing.

Here are 3 easy steps to getting your skin super clean:

1. Apply your cleanser to damp skin. Our favourites are The Body Shop’s Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter, R140 and Clarins Cleansing Milk with Alpine Herbs for Normal to Dry Skin, R275. Gently rub the cleanser into your skin, paying special attention to the areas that are more prone to oiliness or covered in makeup. Leave to sit for a few minutes – maybe while you brush your teeth.

2. Deeply massage the cleanser into your skin. This will activate the cleanser and push it into your pores. Using circular movements, start on your forehead, then move down to your cheeks and finally along your jawline.

3. Remove the cleanser with cleansing sponges or a muslin cloth. We recommend QVS Cleansing Sponges, R75 for two from Woolworths. Soften the sponges or cloth in warm water and place them on your face for a few seconds to open the pores before wiping off. Rinse and wring the sponge before wiping off the rest of the cleanser. This will also reduce the amount of exfoliating you’ll have to do as the cloth will be doing a gentle exfoliation every time you wash your face.
