How to apply extensions like a pro

Want to turn your limp locks into thick tresses but hate the wait? Say hello to clip-in hair extensions! But what happens when you get home and you’re holding up the lengths unable to tell top from bottom, wrestling your own hair out of the way? We’ve got DOs and DONT’s to help you and create thicker, longer hair at home.

DO get two mirrors (if possible). By placing one if front and one behind you, you’ll be able to see the back of your head without trying to strain your neck.

DO make sure you have bobby pins on hand to help you pin back your natural hair while you work.

DON’T be disorganised – open all the extension grips before hand. You will see that the extension pieces come in different widths, each piece having a different amount of attachment clips according to its width. Some have 4 clips, some have 3 and some have 2 and side parts which have one.

DO line them up as you’ll need them: The wider ones (with 4 clips) first and then those with 3, 2 and lastly the tiny ones with 1.

All set? Great! Click through the gallery below for our step-by-step guide to perfect DIY extensions.
