How to recreate the Chanel ‘croissant’

After Chanel’s glorious SS16 Haute Couture show, everybody is talking about THE hair trend of 2016.

For the beauty look, Karl Lagerfeld took inspiration from one of the French brand’s national icons. No, not the Eiffel Tower or a piece by Monet, but rather everyone’s favourite pastry: the croissant.

That’s right – this year’s hottest hairstyle is the croissant-shaped updo; parted in the middle, slicked back and rolled under. Yum.

While we love this continental breakfast-inspired style, the downside is that it the Chanel beauty team roughly 5 days to create the ‘do… Ain’t nobody got time for that.

We’ve found two hacks for channeling the Chanel croissant with  absolutely no effort. You’re welcome.

1 The phony pony

Part your hair down the center and secure in a loose, low ponytail with an elastic. Make a small ‘hole’ by slightly parting the hair above the elastic. Thread the ponytail through the top of the hole, then pull the ends down. You will see that a ‘twist’ is starting to form. Continue until you reach the ends of your hair. Secure and hide the ends with a bobby pin.

2 The ‘hair band-aid’

Part your hair down the center. Place a thin hair band over the crown of your head, trapping your hair underneath. Starting as close to your parting as possible, wrap sections of your hair around the band, picking up strands as you go. Do both sides simultaneously for the best result. Once you reach the nape of your neck, wrap the remaining hair around the band as many times as you can, and secure the ends with bobby pins.
