The most delicious – and healthy – spicy hot chocolate recipe

In the winter cold, nothing satisfies quite like a steamy cup of hot cocoa. Wouldn’t you love to enjoy this treat without the guilt? Well, with a few nutritionally smart ingredient swaps, you can make hot chocolate that’s not only delicious but good for your body too!

According to Ayurvedic medicine, warmed spices like cinnamon and cardamom can actually help boost your metabolism and energy levels. And by swapping dairy milk for coconut milk, you can ensure that your body fully absorbs all the antioxidants found in cocoa. SPICED AYURVEDIC HOT CHOCOLATE

Prep time: 10 minutes. Makes 4 servings.

Ingredients

1-litre coconut milk

3 tbsp cacao powder

½ tsp ground cinnamon

¼ tsp ground cardamom

¼ tsp ground cloves

⅛ tsp ground cayenne pepper

1 tsp vanilla extract

⅛ tsp coarse salt

2 tsp stevia/agave nectar

Method

Combine all the ingredients together in a small saucepan.

Whisk over medium-low heat until well combined (approximately 5 minutes).

Serve hot and enjoy!
