Some of you may know that our treasured editor is something of a vintage fashion junkie. But that’s not the only reason we have decided to throw our weight behind the incredible Vintage with Love sale for charity that takes place in Joburg from 3-5 June.
Vintage with Love is a charity sale of gently worn fashion – on a scale we’ve never seen before. Imagine the forum at The Campus in Bryanston, transformed into a triple volume, sophisticated department store environment – just for three days. Gently worn fashion, from high street labels such as Zara to designer names like Versace, will be for sale at a fraction of what you’d expect to pay in store.
We asked the Vintage team to show us some of this year’s best buys and they asked long-time fan Hayley Owen to model it for a five-day series on Glamour.co.za.
Hayley, an actress and model who also has her own PR and events company, has supported Vintage with Love since it started three years ago. She is currently starring as the feisty, trouble-causing dancer Tallulah in SABC3 soapie, Highrollers.
Launched in 2013 by friends Leigh Ord and Jacquie Myburgh Chemaly and with the generous support of the forum company, Vintage with Love has raised more than R2-million for literacy charities since its inception. Last year saw the launch of Vintage with Love Cape Town.
This year’s Vintage with Love sale takes place on the 3rd, 4th, 5th June 2016 and is once more hosted by the forum at The Campus on Main Road in Bryanston.
“Vintage with Love is not only about designer fashion,” says co-founder and chairman of the Vintage with Love team, Leigh Ord. “The idea is for women to donate those clothes at the back of their cupboards that they have never or rarely worn but that are in excellent condition – and to turn them into funds so desperately needed by literacy charities around Gauteng.”
“It’s a type of #FashionRecycling – turning something that is no longer needed into education resources that are in such short supply.”
All money raised at Vintage with Love goes to literacy charities The Link, the Click Foundation, Columba, Realema and Thandulwazi.
