Man Candy Monday

At first glance, you’d mistake Brett Rogers for a tattooed hipster wandering around Cape Town’s Long Street. But don’t be fooled by his lush beard and inked up arms. This hottie is on a mission to bring you the best in counterculture with his SABC 3 show  Food, Booze and Tattoos.  GLAMOUR caught up with the presenter, model and actor to find out what makes him tick.

What would you describe as your best attribute?

I’m kind and reliable. I think, on the whole, I have a great deal of empathy or, at the very least, a willingness to learn to be more empathetic to others. We come from a country that has a habit of disengaging with the troubles that face most of the country – I don’t want to be one of those people. Also, I’m always on time.

What instantly attracts you to a woman?

I love a really, really smart woman with great conversation and who challenges me. That’s the best! I have strong opinions and beliefs, and I love a person who can change my mind. It’s not easy!

Describe your ideal date.

It would start accidentally, in the early afternoon, say 2 pm. We bump into each other at a restaurant, drink iced white wine in the sun then wait for the sun to set. Before it gets too cold, we’ll decide that dinner would be good and, of course, the conversation will be great. We’ll find a really cosy, dark restaurant with simple food and drink wine, eat, talk, drink more, talk even more before finding the last bar that’s open and continuing our conversation until the sun comes up.

What fills the spot at the top of your dream destination list?

At the moment, it’s Machu Pichu – I would love to do that walk and see those incredible ruins. Also, I’ve not spent much time in Latin America, and would love to see and experience it.

What’s your favourite drink?

I think if it comes down to the crunch and I  have  to decide, I’ll go with vodka. Perhaps not the sexiest choice but it’s the most versatile so it would suit most situations. Not going to be great with that date I mentioned, though, is it?

Do you have any regrets when it comes to your past relationships?

No, I don’t regret any past relationships but I do regret a lack of communication. That’s something that somehow you don’t learn… until you learn it. No matter how many people say you must communicate, you don’t until it affects you. Then, hopefully, you’ve learnt your lesson.

Who is your Woman Crush Wednesday?

Nina Hastie – I think she represents what can be achieved in life no matter where you begin. She is such a powerful person who gives me hope for my own future.
