The 5 spring 2017 fashion trends we can’t wait to wear now

Fashion month came to a close in the French capital last week, and while the northern hemisphere starts dressing for winter, we’re already feeling inspired by the freshest trends seen on the runways.

As seen at Balmain, Chloé and Maison Margiela

The trend:  Suave in suede

Why we love it:  This is another classic revival, which gives you the perfect excuse to go vintage shopping!

How to wear it:  To avoid looking like a full-on cowgirl, mix one suede piece with other fabrics and textures.

What to add:  Give this stiff material some shape (and subtly embrace the Western theme) with a leather belt cinched at the waist. Cool, but not costumey.

As seen at Dior, Manish Arora and Paco Rabanne

The trend:  Loud and proud

Why we love it:  You get to make a bold statement without saying a word.

How to wear it:  Dress up your tee by pairing with a sheer skirt or layered under a dress, as seen at Dior and Paco Rabanne. For a sportier feel, go for a slogan sweater as seen at Manish Arora. When it comes to your slogan, just remember: if you wouldn’t tweet it, don’t wear it.

What to add:  Socks and sneakers to complete the athleisure look.

As seen at Balenciaga, Miu Miu and Saint Laurent

The trend:  City slicker

Why we love it:  It’s an easy and practical way to inject a touch of dominatrix sex appeal into your wardrobe.

How to wear it:  With anything, except black thigh-high boots (too dom!).

What to add:  For a cool, rocker vibe, follow Saint Laurent’s lead with black booties.

As seen at Balenciaga, Céline and Valentino

The trend:  Flowing femininity

Why we love it:  Three designers in Paris   showed very similar versions of pink draped mididresses in one day, which means these designers are onto something!

How to wear it:  Give it a modern update with   coloured tights and heels, as seen at Balenciaga, Céline and Valentino.

What to add:  Dangly earrings for a formal affair.

As seen at Barbara Bui, Saint Laurent and Yohji Yamamoto

The trend:  Grecian goddess

Why we love it:  Showing your shoulders is one of the season’s hottest trends, and we adore the sexy flash of skin.

How to wear it:  Choose a one-shoulder dress, jumpsuit or top and experiment with style, texture and colour. The options are endless!

What to add:  An updo to highlight your neck and collarbones.
