How to do Ruth Negga’s Golden Globe smoky eye

She’s the breakout actress of this year’s awards season. Now Ruth’s makeup artist, Mélanie Inglessis, dishes on how to get the It girl’s smoky-eye look.

Step 1

Mélanie started off by applying a purple bronze eyeshadow on the eyelid. TRY Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Color Eyeshadow

 in Mystic Violet (R325).

Step 2

She explains that she used, “the dark purple Chanel Le Crayon Khôl

(R395) on the top lash line, winged out a little,” to create the cat-eye effect.

Step 3

Using a burgundy eyeshadow, Mélanie blended the shade from the corner of the eye into the crease. “It’s different than your gold/brown smoky eye – I wanted an eye look in a different colour palette that was complementary to the dress,” she explains.

Step 4

Add lashings of mascara to finish the look and add extra drama. TRY Clarins Be Long Mascara

 (R310).
