Man Candy Monday

Professional Cape Town-bred dancer Nathan Adriaanse will be showcasing his moves in The Whitney Houston Tribute Show at the Artscape Theatre Centre next month. Get to know more about this brilliant performer ahead of his debut.

What would you say is your best attribute?

I would like to think that dancing is my best attribute, but if I’m honest with myself, I’d say it has to be performing. Standing in front of hundreds of fans in the spotlight, doing what I love and seeing them be entertained by my performance, is a dream come true.

Who inspires you?

Motivational hip hop speaker, Eric Thomas. His movement and his story inspire me. He talks about what it takes to be successful and this quote will stick with me forever: “You’ll be successful when you don’t need money to do what you’re passionate about.”

What’s your idea of a perfect date?

My idea of a perfect date starts with a lunch at Quay 4 restaurant in Cape Town, where there’s good music (possibly a live band) playing in the background, and enjoying an afternoon of good food and drinks. Afterwards, I would head to a more casual place, possibly Camps Bay for sundowners, then allow the rest to run its course.

What’s your favourite drink?

Coffee, because it’s the only thing I can drink at any time of the day. I can’t start my day without a good cup of coffee – I might be addicted to caffeine!

What fills the spot at the top of your dream destination list?

I randomly discovered Lithuania while on tour last year. Honestly, I never knew this country existed. But it’s very similar to SA; a beautiful place and people and in 1990 to 1991 Lithuania was re-established as a democratic country. The nightlife energy mixed with cold air and snow is like nothing I’ve ever experienced. I love it so much.

Do you have any regrets when it comes to past relationships?

No, I don’t have any regrets. I don’t live life with regrets at all.

What’s on your playlist at the moment?

‘More life’ by Drake, ‘Rather you than me’ by Rick Ross and ‘Damn’ by Kendrick Lamar.
