Rumours that Bella Hadid and Drake are more than just friends grew even more Tuesday night after both Us Weekly and The Daily Mail reported he paid for her “lavish” 21st birthday party, which happened October 9. The fête took place at Socialista, a ritzy New York City lounge, where Bella and about 30 friends and family members danced, drank wine, maybe ate some cake, and took lots of Instagram Story videos. It was a luxe night, to say the least.
But Bella’s mother, Yolanda, contends her daughter and Drake are just friends in a new interview on Watch What Happens Live! Actually, that’s a bit of a stretch: Host Andy Cohen does ask her if Bella and Drake are dating, and she does say “they’re friends” — but the evasive way she says all this makes us think there’s more to the story. Don’t take our word for it, though. Here’s the transcript of Andy and Yolanda’s mysterious chat.
Andy:“He threw her a big 21st birthday party last night!”
Yolanda:“He did? Really?”
Andy:“You were there!”
Yolanda:“Oh, I didn’t know that.”
Andy: “Are they together?”
Yolanda:“I mean, they’re friends!”
The fact that Yolanda plays coy when Andy asks her about Bella’s birthday party is suspicious, to say the least. I mean, she was there. She more than likely knows what’s going on with them. Plus, she started her answer with “I mean,” which everyone knows is code for, “Um, I’m uncomfortable and don’t want to talk about this right now.” And notice how Yolanda says, “they’re friends”—not “they’re just friends.” This is essentially a non-response response!

Of course, we won’t know anything for sure until Bella and/or Drake comment. One thing’s for sure, though: They’d be the dopest and freshest couple in Hollywood. It’s not quiet for them.
