Ever wondered when ripped jeans become too ripped? Wonder no more.

In this climate of ahead-of-the-curve influencers and super stylish bloggers, it’s sometimes hard to stand out in fashion. It’s often a game of who can wear the most oversized hoodie, the highest pair of thigh-high boots or the shortest mini dress (brands like Vetements and Balenciaga are part to thanks for this play on proportions), but we hardly thought we had any keeping up to do when it came to our ripped jeans. Enter, ‘thong jeans’:

Now, here at GLAMOUR we’re all for pushing trends to their breaking point – the Kardashian’s own this one – but we feel someone may have overstepped the mark.

Shown at Tokyo Fashion Week, Japanese designer Meiko Ban has given his own unique take on denim, but they’ll hardly keep you warm this autumn.

The barely there jeans feature huge holes. In fact, ‘holes’ would be doing this injustice. They’re basically just jeans with just the hems left. If normal jeans were the whole body, these jeans would be the skeleton.

Some could say they’re even more breathtaking from the back:

You can see why some people are calling them thong jeans, can’t you?
