Muggles and No-Majs, get excited: First pictures of the cast for Fantastic Beasts 2 has been released

As if 2018 could be  any more exciting (following the news of the  ‘Harry Potter Go’ augmented reality game), we can also look forward to the second instalment of  Fantastic Beasts.

A first look at the cast photo for  Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald shows Jude Law playing a young Albus Dumbledore and we may just need a moment to digest this.

Ezra Miller will be returning as Credence Barebone and Eddie Redmayne is still cast as the adorably handsome Newt Scamander, and the film’s synopsis hints at a dangerous future for him:

“At the end of the first film, the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Depp) was captured by MACUSA (Magical Congress of the United States of America), with the help of Newt Scamander (Redmayne). But, making good on his threat, Grindelwald escaped custody and has set about gathering followers, most unsuspecting of his true agenda: to raise pure-blood wizards up to rule over all non-magical beings. In an effort to thwart Grindelwald’s plans, Albus Dumbledore (Law) enlists his former student Newt Scamander, who agrees to help, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead. Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested, even among the truest friends and family, in an increasingly divided wizarding world.”

What are these crimes? Will we find out more about Newt and Bellatrix’s relationship? What is a young Dumbledore like? Will Jacob Kowalski’s memory be restored? What happened to Credence in the end? CAN IT JUST BE NOVEMBER 16 2018 RIGHT NOW?!

There’s no containing our excitement, and we cannot wait for more news from MACUSA HQ.
