If you’re a Lord of the Rings fanatic, it’s your lucky day. Rumour has it the popular film franchise will be the next big TV adaptation to hit the small screen.
According to Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. Television, whose feature film sector produced the trilogy, is in talks about a potential TV series based on the J.R.R. Tolkien best-sellers. Reports suggest Amazon Studios is a potential buyer.
However, nothing has been confirmed just yet – the creators haven’t even begun their search for a writer, so everything is very much in the preliminary stages.
The news of the TV series comes after an $80 million lawsuit settlement was made between Warner Bros. and Tolkien last summer, following a five-year legal battle over profit participation from the Lord of The Rings franchise.
Could it be the next Game of Thrones style TV frenzy? And more importantly, will it feature the same cast? We’ve got our fingers crossed!
