Amy Schumer’s new comedy I Feel Pretty looks like the pick-me-up we all need

We’ve all been here, right? You’re 15 minutes into an intense Soul Cycle class when you fall off your bike, knock yourself out, and wake up with a newfound confidence. OK, maybe you haven’t been there exactly, but this is what  Amy Schumer experiences in her new film  I Feel Pretty, which just released its first trailer today (February 8). And unsurprisingly, it’s hilarious.

Schumer plays Renée, a woman with a great job and great friends but who struggles with incredibly low self-esteem. She’s constantly comparing herself to her roommate (played by Emily Ratajkowski) and just wants to know what it feels like to be universally, conventionally attractive.

That’s where the Soul Cycle class gone horribly wrong comes in. After a nasty fall, Renée wakes up looking completely the same but  feeling like a supermodel. With this new outlook on her outward appearance, Renée starts changing her life in more ways than one: She goes after a cool new job, enjoys nights out with friends more, and starts dating a cute guy who, honestly, has nothing on Bill Hader in  Trainwreck. That’s not the point, though: The point is that it’s Renée’s change in confidence (not appearance) that helps her snag a new lease on life. That’s a very sweet—and important—message for everyone to hear, no matter what their age.

Check out the trailer for yourself, below. It’s equal parts cute, funny, and heartwarming.

“I think [this movie] will make us all feel better,” Schumer told Ellen DeGeneres before debuting the trailer on her talk show. “It made me feel better to play the role.”

I Feel Pretty hits theaters later this year
