The Spice Girls will upstage Prince Harry at his own wedding—because they’re performing

Gay people officially have a reason to be excited about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding this May: The Spice Girls are reportedly performing at the reception—all five of them. At least, I know I won’t be the only one clearing my schedule for May 19 so I can troll Twitter for low-res clips of the Spice Girls singing “Stop” in front of the entire British monarchy. Lord knows they’re not going to appreciate it.

Mel B. quasi-broke the news when she appeared on  The Real Tuesday morning (February 27). The cohosts asked the singer (known as Scary Spice) if she knows anyone going to the royal wedding, and she subtly mouthed, “I’m going.”

That tidbit is enough to make myself do cartwheels set to the tune of “Say You’ll Be There,” but it gets better. She then low-key implied all five of the Spice Girls are invited to the wedding. “Why am I so honest?” Mel B. said, spilling the tea at the same speed I dance to “Saturday Night Divas” in my living room as my roommate rolls her eyes. “They invited all the Spice Girls to the royal wedding?” co-host Loni Love asked Mel B., to which she simply replied, “Yes.”

Mel B. also said the invitations were “proper,” but then swore off giving any more details. However, Love managed to get one more tea drop out of her. “Will the Spice Girls be performing at the reception?” Love asked. Mel B. sighed, looked down, and said nothing, which pretty much says everything. “I need to go,” Mel B. said. “I’m gonna be fired! I’m gonna be fired!”

Watch Mel B. say all this for yourself, below:

The question at hand now is the setlist. “Wannabe,” “2 Become 1,” and “Spice Up Your Life,” are the obvious choices, but what if they, like, gave everyone heart attacks with a stripped-down rendition of “Naked” à la March 1998? I can see Prince William blushing now. (In all seriousness, “Too Much” is one of their most underrated, deep-cut ballads and would make for a fine reception song. Thank me later for the suggestion, Mel! Better yet, make me your plus-one.)

To play devil’s advocate, Mel B. didn’t confirm anything, but the subtext is undeniable. Who knew Markle and Prince Harry were closet Spice Girls stans? Who do you think was more adamant about asking the group? I can just picture Prince Harry being like, “Should we have the British Philharmonic play?” and Markle saying, “Nope. The Spice Girls.” And then when Prince Harry probably said, “Hmmm, I don’t know,” Markle no-doubt replied, “I’m eating a  banana wedding cake for you.”
