Easter Exclusive Part 1: Q&A with Sechaba G

In the first installment of our Easter exclusive with KFM, we chatted to the incomparable radio personality and now Motswako talk show host, Sechaba G, about her Easter plans, beauty tips, and career advice.

What are your Easter plans?

We might have an Easter egg hunt for my son, but we’re going to have a lunch.

What fashion looks are you planning on serving this Easter?

I don’t know if my upbringing played a part in this, but every-time its Easter there’s an inclination to get a new dress. I’ll be whipping out a nice day dress, especially since it’s the last few days of summer.

In terms of makeup, are you a face beat kinda gal, or do you prefer the natural bare faced look?

I’m a combination of both. I believe in good skin; I don’t like heavy makeup so a powder or B.B. cream is ideal.

What are your top 3 beauty must haves?

Red lipstick, sunscreen, and perfume. My favourite fragrances are Burberry Body, Jo Malone, and anything Issey Miyake.

You’re always switching your hair up, what hair advice can you give to women?

I’m a hair girl! You need to look at the shape of your face; and go with what compliments your face.

What are the 5 essentials for the woman who wants to look timeless?

A blazer, a good pair of jeans, a simple black dress that looks amazing on you, that cuts above or under the knee. A good shoe, a great handbag and a trench coat, and a crisp white shirt.

What does it mean to be a woman in entertainment in the current climate? And, what advice would you give to other women looking to enter the space?

It’s a powerful time for women. We’re finally getting recognized for our craft. As someone who’s been in the industry for a while, you have to practice your craft. I think people are obsessed with immediate results. I started out in community radio and worked for peanuts, then moved onto a series of other jobs which also paid very little. Know that nothing happens overnight, so respect your craft.
