South African musicians, Black Coffee, AKA, and Kwesta, are well on their way to living the American dream.

Black Coffee

This past weekend Black Coffee made history, becoming the first South African DJ to play a set at the legendary Apollo Theatre in New York. After a successful performance, the award-winning DJ left a note on a wall backstage, which reads: “Trust your dopeness.” On Twitter, he shared that he would be “waiting for more African Children to sign next to [him].”

Kwetsa

No stranger to the US music scene, rapper Kwesta will return to SXSW in Austin Texas this year. Last year the rapper performed at the homecoming finale of T.I’s Hustle Gang Tour in Atlanta. And who could forget the awesome collaboration between US rapper Wale and Kwesta for the hit song ‘Spirit.’ For the SXSW festival, he will perform alongside hip-hop artist Talib Kweli and fellow South African musician AKA.

AKA

AKA will also fly to Austin Texas next week to perform at SXSW. It will be the first time the hip-hop artist performs at the music festival. Not only will he appear on the ‘Blast Live’ stage, he will also grace the ‘Sounds from Africa & the Caribbean’ stage the following day.
