FYI: You can now apply to get verified on Instagram!

Ever wondered how your favourite celebrities and influencers get that iconic blue tick on their  Instagram  profile?

Well, for years, getting that elusive ‘verified’ badge on the social media site was the stuff of legend.

You’d either need to be a fully-fledged celebrity like  Kim Kardashian, be a major brand, or have tens of thousands of followers. Some people even paid hundreds of pounds to buy a verification on the black market; yes, really.

But the day has come: mere muggles can now apply for a much-coveted blue tick – and it literally takes three seconds.

So, how do you find Instagram fame? Here’s how…

1. Go onto your Instagram profile, click on the Settings menu (the three lines at the top right) and then find an option to ‘Request Verification.’

2. Add your name, email address and a photo of your ID and you’re done.

It’s SO simple. Instagram will send you a notification if you’ve been verified and if you’re rejected, you can try again after 30 days.

According to Instagram, this is how they define the blue tick:

“The blue verified badge is an important way for you to know that the account you are interacting with is the authentic presence of a notable public figure, celebrity, global brand or entity. Today we are enabling a new way for accounts that reach large audiences and meet our criteria to request verification through a form within the Instagram app.”

Move over, Kim K!
