Three tips from local glam girls to help you become healthier, fitter, stronger and get your skin glowing.
Glamour caught up with the make-up artists who created the look for up and coming singer/songwriter, Hunter Rose, for her SABC 3 Expresso Show debut.
Anthea and Hayley, the dynamic Cape Town-based duo with a friendship that spans for over 20 years, are freelance make-up artists that launched A&H Professional Make-up Services in 2016, offering mobile beauty services.
Take a look at A&H’s top three tips to caring for you skin in a holistic way.
How a nourishing diet benefits your skin
Radiant skin starts with nourishment from within - what you put into your body manifests in your skin. When you feed your skin with the vital nutrients it needs, it will help it stay supple and blemish-free. So, make sure to include vitamin C and E in your daily diet. Vitamin C is needed to produce collagen that strengthens the capillaries that supply the skin. Eat foods high in vitamin E like almonds, as vitamin E protects skin from cell damage and supports healthy skin growth. Get enough omega-3 fats from oily fish like salmon and sardines.
Omega-3 fats encourage the body to produce anti-inflammatory compounds, which can help skin, especially inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. And Hayley’s favourite, easiest and most beneficial tip is to hydrate! Drink six to eight glasses of water a day. You will see the difference in your skin.
How to balance your lifestyle to ensure you're well rested?
Take time for yourself! Make the time to do something that makes you feel good and feeds your soul. To truly reduce stress levels is to do something totally for you!
How the A&H duo keep their bodies active?
Getting your body moving releases those feel-good hormones. Twice per week (when time allows), we do boxfit classes with Richard Makore. Most times separately, but what a bonus when we get a chance to do it together. We get to have fun - our trainer has gotten used to the banter - but we work hard too.
