Winter can really take its toll on your skin. With the colder air and lower humidity, your skin tends to dry out a lot quicker than in summer. But don’t fret, Julie van Rooyen Operations Manager from Amani Spa and the tema at the Radisson Blu Hotel Waterfront, have got you covered with some face care tips on what to do to keep your glow.
Drink lots of water. Try warm water with a splash of lemon or ginger as a winter treat. During winter we tend to be indoors more, drinking hot beverages and cosying up to a heater which can all increase the dehydration of your skin.
You should always wash your skin in the morning and before you go to bed at night. However, during winter rather opt for an oil- or cream-based cleanser instead of a gel cleanser, to keep the skin soft and hydrated.
Use an exfoliator and a face mask at least once a week. This will remove old, dead skin cells and nourish new skin.
If you can, invest in a good quality hydrating serums and skin boosters. These little gems add a deeper layer of moisture to your face. Top it off with a good face cream to lock it in.
Load up on vitamin C . Vitamin C helps to boost the collagen production in your skin, which in turn smooths out wrinkles. It’s also packed with antioxidants that help in repairing damage caused by the sun.
Go for a spa treatment as often as you can. . Spas are great at knowing which treatment will boost your skin’s hydration levels. A professional skin care treatment every four to eight weeks will do wonders for winter skin. At the Radisson Blu Hotel Waterfront, we have a ESSE hydroboost facial - a treatment that boosts and builds healthy skin naturally. We also have a BABOR skin renewal treatment, which reinvigorates and instantly rejuvenates the skin. We swear by these treatments!
