Queen B has already made her mark in showbiz, and she’ll now be harnessing her influential voice in support of women’s empowerment, when she serves as a panellist at the #WeSeeEqual Gender Equality summit. Happening on Monday 18 February, the summit will be co-hosted in Mumbai, India, by Procter & Gamble and United Nations (UN) Women.
The summit will unite key figures in policy, government, business, media and entertainment from across the Indian subcontinent, the Middle East and Africa. Bonang’s very keen to get involved, as she explained: “I am passionate about gender equality, and especially about creating a brighter future for the women of tomorrow. I am excited about taking part in this important conversation and doing more to help girls everywhere reach their full potential.”
Bonang’s passion is quite evident, since she has also joined other major gender equality platforms, particularly in aid of girls’ education. One of these is the 2018 #LeaveNoGirlBehind discussion at the UN General Assembly. To add to that, she launched the Bonang Matheba Bursary Fund, which raises funds for girls’ tertiary education.
