Bouwer Racing hosts an eclectic mix of business and media personalities at this year’s Queen’s Plate as they return from their native Holland for this special day.
Businessman Edward Bouwer who clearly has recruited Carol onto the sport allowed his wife to do the guest list this year and she completely took over forgetting to invite their usual racing crowd. Carol joked that half the guests found out after the race that one of the horses was theirs.
2018 was a good racing year for them but this was not to be their day as they began the 2019 racing season. But as Bouwer advises, you don’t do this for money- you must race for the love of the sport and then you will have fun! The sport sustains many careers and there has been a sustained programmes of transformation which they champion passionately!
Amongst their impressive guest list were Tiso Blackstar’s Yvonne Shaff whose husband Gary had come into town from the DRC which was due to have its election vote count.
In the Suite was former mayor Patricia de Lille who joked with Carol about her joining the Orange troop. So Carol said she’d move if Cyril came along. Carol and Patricia’s sisterhood goes back many years when Bouwer was still on television.
Everyone was excited to see South African media darling Nomzamo Mbatha choose to join Bouwer Racing this year. She arrived with her savvy manager Pumza Nohashe and Radio Personality Chriselda Dudumashe.
Opera loving crooner and hotelier Aubrey Ngcungama arrived with German Businessman Marco Buder and they were in conversation with the lovely Jeremy Jenkin, the Ombud’s Pearl Shongwe and the Red Cross President Connie Motshumi.
