Super talented actress Thuso Mbedu, is one to watch. The two-time Emmy nominated actress has been cast for a major role in Barry Jenkin’s adaptation of The Underground Railroad. Mbedu is the first South African actress to lead and American series. She will star as the main character Cora, in Colson Whitehead’s award-winning novel.
Taking to IG, the actress posted: ‘My thumb and neurons are failing me right now so I'll just do as most South Africans do when this happens: I GOT THE JOB!!!! It was such an amazing process and experience. Like, true story, just prepping to audition for this role made me grow so much. It's such a blessing and honour to tell this story... Again, words fail me so I'll stop there for now.’
Only, she didn’t just stop there. Right below #becomingthepromise, your girl posted the lyrics from Hillsong’s hit, So will I. You don’t need to be a Hillsong fan to appreciate the piercing words and poetic message of this potent worship song.
….God of Your promise/You don’t speak in vain/ No syllable empty or void…All nature and science follow the sound of Your voice/And as You speak/A hundred billion creatures catch Your breath/Evolving in pursuit of what You said/ If it all reveals Your nature so will I/I can see Your heart in everything You say/Every painted sky/A canvas of Your grace/ If creation still obeys You…so will I…
A fan aptly commented, ‘In the history of mankind, every so often God will place a gem amongst his children so they can get inspired and remember to look to Him. Thank you for LIVING In our time.'
Yass girl! We are so proud of you. Congratulations. Keep on shining (in every sense), doing the things and becoming the promise.
