No confidence? NOT born that way? Lady Gaga can help!

Ever the Mother Monster, Lady Gaga has launched a foundation for youth empowerment.

Called the Born This Way Foundation, she aims to help young people develop self-confidence and wellbeing, stating that she’s set up the non-profit group to help people worldwide develop a new standard of care towards one another.

She said: “Together we hope to establish a standard of bravery and kindness, as well as a community worldwide that protects and nurtures others in the face of bullying and abandonment.”

Her mother, Cynthia Germanotta, is leading and directing the foundation, which will launch in 2012.

Lady G has long campaigned for charity and ethical issues, previously advocating gay rights – most notably speaking out against America’s ‘don’t ask, don’t tell policy’, which didn’t allow openly homosexual officers to serve in the armed forces – before its repealing earlier this year.

Her foundation is bound to be fabulous – what’s not to love about teaching teens to stop the self-hate? And let’s face it, it’s a far more effective statement than a meat dress!
