HOW TO: Wear dungarees

No, this isn’t a ’90s flashback! Dungarees are back with a vengeance and one of this season’s hottest items to add to your wardrobe. Read on to find out how to wear the trend this winter.

It’s all in the shoes

The shoes you decide to wear with your dungarees are probably as important as the dungarees themselves! Wear your dungarees folded or in a pin roll and rock them with Converse All Stars, brogues, ankle boots or platform sandals (and don’t forget your socks – it is winter after all!).

Be a little girly

Dungarees can be a little boxy and boyish, so soften them up by wearing them with a feminine blouse – a white one with ruffles or billowy sleeves, or in leopard print with a Peter Pan collar. Not feeling it? That’s just fine – dungarees also look great with checked shirts.

Accessorise, accessorise, accessorise!

Wear a bucket hat or wide-brimmed floppy hat for a touch of British style. Bags are also a great way to accessorise – go for a backpack, a large, structured tote bag or, for a proper ’90s throwback, a leather satchel.

Add some layers

Winter, of course, is all about layering not only to look good but also to keep warm, so wear a chunky knit cardigan, leather jacket or a coat over your dungarees. When it comes to coats, try to stick to neutral colours like beige, grey or black.
