Gee Six Five dies at 65

One of the newsmakers of 2020 in South Africa, musician Olpha Selepe, known to Mzansi as Gee Six Five, has passed on.

Selepe's popularity grew after she dropped her first ever Amapiano hit Obani Lababantu. The song topped streaming and download charts in November.

Selepe was born in Emadadeni in Newcastle, KZN. She is a former teacher. Selepe completed her Masters at 60 and was currently pursuing her PhD in Higher Education.

"This project is a once off project. I have a reason for this. I've already done what I dreamt of. Now, I'm making room for others," Selepe said in an interview with Vibe FM about her musical project.

"You always people say things like 'people laugh at each other' or 'what will people say?" said Selepe explaining her song. "So with this song I'm asking 'Who are these people?' What I'm saying is, don't hold back on your dreams because of 'people'."

Selepe reminded us that its never too late to follow your dreams.
