Gucci

‘The opulence of the era of hedonism’ was what Frida Giannini cited as her inspiration for Gucci’s Spring 2012 RTW collection. This was evident in the GLAMOUR of the largely monochrome collection gilded from the clasps to the fringing.

As the opening show of Milan Fashion Week, it set the bar high with its Art Deco patterns and drop-waists. Mirrored embroidery glittered on box jackets and ’20s dresses. Plunging silk dresses were divided by beaded, gold belts that flowed effortlessly with the outfit. A cutaway black swimsuit was enveloped by smokey, fringed chiffon that drifted behind the model. The collection was one of lavishness that can easily be translated from the runway to the everyday life of an heiress – or GLAMOUR girl!
