5 For Change

Everyone knows that South African cities have some of the most exciting social scenes in the world, and now a group of young movers and shakers has found a way to use that vibe for good – with 5 For Change, a Black Tie fundraising event. Tell your best friend to dress to impress or get your man to suit up, because this is an evening of entertainment that’s not to be missed, and it’s all for five charitable causes.

The initiative was inspired by the black tie fundraisers that take place around the world, but that hadn’t yet made their way to Cape Town. 5 For Change sees throwing a sensational soiree as a way to keep efforts for social change fresh in the memory of party-goers.

“It’s an interactive evening where guests can view and engage with creative, inspiring and thought-provoking displays,” says 5 For Change’s Ross Mckernan. Aside from rubbing shoulders with the city’s socialites, you’ll also be able to enjoy performances by Jeremy Loops, iScream and The Wedding DJs.

The party is set to become an annual fixture on Cape Town’s social calendar.

The 5 charities involved in the 2012 campaign are Let There be Light, Greenpop, MyLife, African Brothers Football Academy and Write on Africa.
