How to create Blake Lively’s Hollywood waves

Love old Hollywood glamour? Well you can learn how to replicate those lustworthy, smooth waves with this easy guide from Moroccanoil using their new Smooth Collection.

1 Cleanse and condition

Start by washing your hair with Moroccanoil Smoothing Shampoo and Moroccanoil Smoothing Conditioner. This will make your hair more manageable and get it ready for styling.

2 Lose the frizz

Towel dry your hair and then apply 1-2 pumps of Moroccanoil Treatment followed by a drop of Moroccanoil Smoothing Lotion. This will provide the control you need for a perfect blow dry, as well as give you frizz-free definition.

3 Turn up the volume

Give your hair texture and a lift with a palm sized amount of Moroccanoil Root Boost. Add volume to your hair by running Moroccanoil Volumizing Mousse through the lengths. Then blow dry your hair by lifting it at the roots using a large round brush for maximum smoothness.

4 Get your curls on

Create a deep side parting from the arch of your brow to the top of your head. Beginning with the larger section, create a horseshoe shaped section with the top layer. Divide this section into 4-5 subsections. Using a curling iron, curl your first section forward, towards your face. Secure the curl with a bobby pin for extra hold. Repeat this on the other sections. Generously spray Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray Medium to each section before you begin curling.

TIP: To create a wave pattern, you will curl each new layer in the opposing direction from the one before it. Therefore, your second layer will be curled away from your face all the way around the head. When you reach the other side, you will notice your curls will end up shifting to a forward direction, towards the face. Be sure to brick lay the curls when you pin them up, staggering the rows to make sure you achieve that perfect Hollywood wave in the final look.

5 Set it in place

Once all sections are pinned up, spray your entire head with Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray Medium. Let your hair dry and then remove the pins.

6 Sculpt your locks

Use a Moroccanoil Boar Bristle Paddle Brush to bring the hair behind your shoulders, smoothing with your other hand for control. With the palms of your hands, push the hair forward and sculpt into place.

7 Finishing touch

Mist your new ‘do with Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray Medium and enjoy your glamourous, old Hollywood curls!
