Maya Rudolph and Tiffany Haddish are the internet’s new dream team after the Oscars

Hands down, one of the highlights from last night’s Oscars was Tiffany Haddish and Maya Rudolph presenting an award together. Don’t know what I’m talking about? Did you go on a snack run or something during this pivotal moment from the evening? First off, how could you?! Second, it’s a good thing the Internet exists, and I’m here to tell you everything that happened in excruciating detail.

Rudolph and Haddish’s bits and banter stole the show, plain and simple. They emerged on stage clutching their shoes in their hands, barefoot, like two relatable queens. Then they launched into a hilarious back-and-forth about how white people carrying clipboards are the pits, which, true, followed by a compliment-fest about their respective films  Bridesmaids and  Girls Trip. “Maya, when you took a dookie in the street in  Bridesmaids, it changed my life. It was inspiring,” Haddish said. Again, there were no lies detected here. Just laughs.

Things ended with Haddish giving Meryl Streep a shout-out in the audience. “I want you to be my mama one day,” Haddish told the screen legend. “Let’s get this money, girl!” Rudolph echoed Haddish, saying, “One day. Just one day.” And just like that, a dream team was born.

Social media users are in agreement that Haddish and Rudolph made last night’s Oscars, and now they’re petitioning for the two actresses to host next year’s show. And the Golden Globes. And the SAGs. And also for them to make about a zillion buddy comedies. Basically, the world’s demanding all entertainment from now until the end of time include at least one scene where Rudolph and Haddish riff and, honestly, I agree. Literally, put them in all the things.

Here are just 11 people (of thousands) who are on this train.

Maya Rudolph and Tiffany Haddish appeared and I immediately screamed “Thelma and Louise reboot” at a stranger.

Tiffany Haddish and Maya Rudolph in a comedic film about two sisters with different fathers (one black, one white) reconciling the differences between their upbringings and interactions with their blackness is beyond necessary. #Oscars

I know it’s lazy to just be like “these two people onstage need to be in a movie together!!” but………Maya Rudolph and Tiffany Haddish really should be in a movie together. And a miniseries. And a TV show. And on a spoken word album.

Twitter’s even tapped a director for these hypothetical Rudolph-Haddish projects: Paul Thomas Anderson, Rudolph’s husband. And he’s game: “Absolutely! That’s a combustible combination, the two of them [Haddish and Rudolph],” Anderson told the  Los Angeles Times a few weeks ago. “That’s what you dream of as a director. Because you know if you just get your…together and you’re simple and you create a platform, why do you think people look good when they work with Daniel Day-Lewis? Because it’s Daniel Day-Lewis! Writing for them, I feel like you could turn on the faucet and that’ll come out. That would be a great team.”

Indeed it would.
