BET Awards 2018: Best beauty looks

The 2018 BET Awards took place on June 24 at Los Angeles’s Microsoft Theater, and to no one’s surprise, celebs in attendance totally wowed us with their gorgeous takes on red carpet hair and makeup. Actors Amandla Stenberg and Storm Reid both celebrated the beauty of natural, braided hairstyles, while sisters — and trailblazing singers — Chloe x Halle stepped out in the coolest of coordinated makeup looks. Another standout moment? Singer Janelle Monáe showing her Pride in a rainbow ‘fit — and proving that you can never underestimate the power of a good hair accessory and bright red lip.

Actor and activist Amandla Stenberg’s incredible knotted braid came courtesy of hairstylist Vernon François, who Instagrammed the look with the caption, “Because why knot.” What’s more, the look was proof that matchy-matchy (check out her pink and lavender eyeshadow) is always a red carpet win.

The inspiration behind actor Skai Jackson’s gorgeous curly ponytail? ’70s glam with a modern twist, according to hairstylist Tymothe Wallace, who used Oribe gel to smooth strands at the crown, and misted hairspray throughout her length for voluminous texture.

Logan Browning Bet Awards 2018

Actor Logan Browning’s wrapped ponytail showed off her faux locs (a protective style where hair is wrapped tightly around braids or twists in a downward pattern) in the best way. Plus, her off-the-charts level of glow and fierce cat-eye turned up the glam.

Sister duo Chloe x Halle’s twists looked amazing in various updo styles, while a pop of golden eyeshadow brought some serious shine factor to the red carpet.
