Curls In Bloom reveals new product launches at first ever press event

Earlier this month, Sunpac, in collaboration with Dis-Chem pharmacies, hosted an event to introduce local hair care brand Curls In Bloom to the market.

Held at the trendy Rooftop at Flamingo in Johannesburg, the event offered a sneak peek into the new products that will soon be available.

Four key speakers took to the stage to tell guests a little bit more about the brand’s origin, its vision and its future:

Taryn Gill (Co-Founder)

Through tracing media patterns and international trends, I noticed lots of floral themes and blooming colourful trends that were exploding. This is when the idea of Curls in Bloom was birthed.

The idea was to create a brand using floral waters and pure essential oils that will resonate with its consumer - and the best way to predict the future is to create it.

Charlene Githu (Head of Strategic Brand Development)

Curls in Bloom is incredibly unique. It’s a proudly South African haircare brand that is dedicated to creating nourishing haircare products for kinks, coils and curls. What sets Curls in Bloom apart from the plethora of South African brands we have today is the fact that Curls in Bloom prides itself in putting the people that matter first.

Curls In Bloom is a caring and supporting brand that prides itself on giving back meaningfully to the customer and the community.

Patience Toka (Dis-Chem Representative)

As Dis-Chem, it’s vitally important for us to get into the minds of our shopper and to understand their wants and needs.

Based on the synergistic relationship with Sunpac, we were able to birth Curls in Bloom, an exclusive haircare brand dedicated to supporting, uplifting and empowering our community through solution driven haircare products.

We’re proud to associate and be part of the Curls in Bloom journey, further to which we ourselves as Dis-Chemers are Bloomers – we have created and are part of a blooming community that prides itself in putting the people that matter first.

Khathu (Internship & Scholarship Fund Recipient)

Essentially when you look at the brand please keep in mind that this is a brand that uplifts, not only through hair but through its ingredients, it uplifts the farms in which it sources its ingredients from and most importantly for me, this is the brand that saved my life and I can’t wait for more people to experience the good that Curls in Bloom will continue to do.

Guests included members of the media and influencers such as Stephanie Ndlovu, Yolanda Jawe, LeAnne Dlamini, Clarissa (also known as @coffeenomilk), Petronella Tshuma and Amy Dove (also known as @bushbabyamy), just to mention a few.

The origin of Curls In Bloom products

They are organic growers of Rosemary and Cape Geranium, the perfect ingredients sustainably sourced and ethically farmed for the ultimate hair care range created for the conscious shopper. The farming units belong to local farmers, who take full control of crop production from planting, to harvesting and distilling.

Curls In Bloom Scholarship fund

Curls in Bloom prides itself in putting the consumer and community first, and this mind set extends to their in-house practices too. Committed to investing in future generations through the empowerment of education, they have created a Curls In Bloom Scholarship fund.

The Scholarship fund is open to Black South African females who are currently involved in tertiary or technical training and are consistently attaining above average grades for their studies. This is a two-fold opportunity: not only are successful candidates given a scholarship to complete their studies, but the recipients will be afforded a four-week internship program at Sunpac Pty Ltd.

The four-week program is an immersive opportunity that gives the successful candidates an opportunity to overlay what they have learnt in the classroom and apply it to real world experiences. They will have the benefit of building their business knowledge, entrepreneurial, leadership, communication, presentation and critical thinking skills in a hands-on team-based environment.

The program has proved to be highly successful allowing for Khathutshelo Madisha to be made a permanent employee after successfully completing the internship program.

This Proudly South African brand is the first of its kind in the way it’s designed, sourced and manufactured, and is testament to the fact that business and kindness can go hand in hand.
