How to maintain wigs and weaves

There’s nothing more fun than switching up your look with wigs and weaves. But, as fun, as it is to give your natural hair a rest and try a fresh new look,  you still need to take time out to take care of your wigs and weaves. That’s why we’ve decided to share the 3 major keys for keeping your wigs and weaves in tip-top shape.

NB: Don't forget to get your tickets for the FRIKA Masterclass, HERE.

One: Do not use cheap and harsh shampoo on your weaves and wigs

First of all – you need to wash your weave at least once a week. Skipping a wash will leave the hair stiff and greasy. When it comes to wigs, you can wash it every second week. But, whatever washing frequency you decide on, please steer clear of sulfate-laden drugstore shampoos. Instead, look out for sulfate-free shampoos that won’t damage your weave or wig.

Two: Do detangle your weaves and wigs

Whether you have a silky straight Indian hair or a set of wavy Brazillian locks, you need to detangle your weave or wig. We suggest you try out Frika’s detangler spray, which is specially formulated for 100% human and synthetic hair. Cop it here.

Three: Protect your tresses

To make sure that your hair lasts for years, make sure to store your wig correctly. The best way to store your wig, for daily use, is on a wig stand or mannequin. When it comes to weaves, you’ll need to invest in a silk (or satin) pillowcase or wear a satin bonnet or scarf.
