A look inside the 2023 Nedbank International Polo

Guests showed up in numbers at the Nedbank International Polo hosted at the Inanda Club in honour of a ‘New Nobility’

At this year’s Polo, Nedbank shone the light on impactful individuals elevating the conversation in the fields of the arts, sport, child wellbeing, as well as the environment. And a New Nobility was crowned; a campaign about playing your part to uplift those around you.

The highly anticipated social event was hosted at the pristine Inanda Club in the heart of Johannesburg. And the pitch was set for South Africa and India to battle it out on horseback. Guests honoured the theme ‘bold with a touch of green’, and showed up in different hues of green, displaying their vibrant take on the theme. And the perfect weather made way for mingling in the joyful space as guests took to different marquees.

Exceptional individuals who were in attendance include Gcebile Dlamini and Nkosinathi Nzima from The Arts & Culture Trust. Embodying new nobility, they have both used their influence in society and love for the arts to contribute to the lives of individuals living in marginalised and underprivileged communities.

We caught up with Gcebile Dlamini amid the revelries, expanding on her approach to impact, she said, “I work with the community, mostly young people, and I also do TV work and guest lecturing at universities. Everything I do is focused on the arts.” She also shared that she received a bursary from Nedbank in 2019, which was the beginning of a meaningful relationship. About the New Nobility campaign specifically, she shared that “it’s about community work and going out there. Through the work I do, I’m a new nobility because I go into spaces, shake them and make sure that community has access to art, and finding innovative ways of creating art.”

Our 2022 Disruptors Issue Cover Star and Beauty Influencer, Kay Yarms was also in attendance. Affirming that new nobility has crossover appeal, and Nedbank is the common thread for recognizing and celebrating excellence across industries.

The Nedbank International Polo event is about more than providing an unparalleled experience. It is also about creating a shared understanding of what it means to be a part of the new nobility, which is about playing your part to uplift those around you.

Charismatic Fahion Blogger and Content Creator, Ricki-Lee Kalish spoke to the moment as she reflected on life post-lock down, “right now since COVID-19, as a country we’re not in the best space and to be able to come to a heightened version of beauty, glamour, fashion and sports, is quite exciting and inspiring.” Adding that if feels good to connect with others on a sentimental level, “Nedbank is such a huge brand that’s been part of the Zeitgeist my whole life, and to see it connected to the fashion, sports and media world, is really exciting.”
