A Joburg home capitalises on the fine art of composition in a marriage of modern lines and signature classics. With a nod to 1960s lines, a Tonic Design piece in walnut and soothing sophisticated shades set the scene for pared-back simplicity. Love the textured wallpaper!

A classic undercurrent anchors modern art and 1950s architecture in a glamorous David Muirhead-designed Joburg home. In the dining room, the glossy dining table complements the walls; Cole & Son wallpaper lend a luxe feel. A work by Deborah Bell adds warmth.
Oriental Flavour

Designer John Jacob layers subtle tones with fine finishes in a Joburg home that speaks of supreme sophistication. The main bedroom is a masterclass in layering pattern. The same toile fabric that covers the walls was also used to dress the bed and upholster cushions. John Jacob had it remilled especially, after finding the perfect swatch and discovering it had been discontinued. Cupboard doors were lined with off-white pleated silk to tie in the with toile.

Wallpaper Romance

Reindeer hides are an incredibly alluring and robust texture for elemental and romantic rooms, as seen in this Tessa Proudfoot-designed home. A French wallpaper in soft blue adds muted detail without being overpowering.
