It is said that death brings people together, and it was no different at Mampintsha’s funeral, when his wife Babes Wodumo took to the podium to pay her last respects to her late husband.
The self-proclaimed Queen of Gqom not only showed strength by speaking at the funeral but for publicly declaring that she forgives Mampintsha’s mom.
It’s public knowledge that the two ladies didn’t see eye to eye, and in previous years, videos of them hurling insults at each other have made rounds. It was also reported that the two families were at loggerheads leading up to Mampintsha’s funeral. Babes Wodumo didn’t let the drama deter her from giving her husband a respectable send off however, as she used the opportunity to make peace with her mother-in-law.
The heart-warming moment was captured by attendees, who applauded her for stepping up to the occasion. Mampintsha’s send off reflected the life of a music icon. It was a celebration of his life as mourners sang along to the the Big Nuz hit song, ‘Ngeke’. The fallen musician who pioneered the Gqom genre together with Big Nuz and Afrotainment will be remembered for his hit tracks As’trende, Msheke-Sheke, Joburg and Dubane.
