From Scratch tugs at the heartstrings of viewers across the world

Inspired by a memoir written by Tembi Locke, ‘From Scratch’ is based on a true story centred around a cross-cultural love story that follows Amahle "Amy" Wheeler (played by Zoe Saldana) an American student studying abroad in Italy, as she meets and falls in love with Lino, a Sicilian chef (played by Eugenio Mastrandrea).

Issues of family, loss and friendship are weaved in beautifully into the love story, ‘From Scratch’ which has left viewers gasping for air. Amy and Lino’s love transcends cultural barriers and brings their families together but Lino’s battle with cancer rips through their union like a hurricane. And an unexpected mother-daughter affirms that love knows no bounds. The heart-wrenching series premiered last month on Netflix, and is currently sitting in the number 2 spot on Netflix’s Top TV Shows in South Africa.
