Netflix’s new drama series, Savage Beauty, bares the true cost of beauty

Savage Beauty is Netflix’s new original African drama series. The show draws viewers into a world of beauty, secrets, lies and revenge, and is set to launch globally on Netflix on 12 May 2022.

Produced by Quizzical Pictures and created by Lebogang Mogashoa, Savage Beauty stars Rosemary Zimu as Zinhle, a mysterious young woman with a tragic past who single-mindedly pursues revenge on the powerful Bhengu family.

Fifteen years ago, the family matriarch and patriarch, Don and Grace Bhengu (played by Nthati Moshesh and Dumisani Mbebe), tested a toxic product on a group of street children. Now, as one of the two survivors, Zinhle Manzini, returns with a vengeance.

Soon, Zinhle becomes an invincible force, exposing family secrets and dragging the Bhengu name, and powerful beauty empire, through a destructive path.

The Bhengu’s become increasingly ruthless in their quest to uncover the enemy trying to sabotage their life’s work. However, innocent people get hurt through all the drama and malice, while Zinhle’s own darkness threatens to consume her.

In the end, Zinhle must decide if she wants justice, or pure, cold-hearted revenge.

Rosemary Zimu is accompanied by a talented roster of South Africa’s most accomplished actors. Savage Beauty includes cameo appearances from the likes of Terry Pheto, Sarah Langa, Trevor Stuurman, Loyiso Gola, Thando Hopa, Kefilwe Mabote and Lasizwe, to name a few. The show is directed by Rea Rangaka, Denny Miller and Thati Peele, and executive produced by Harriet Gavshon, Lebogang Mogashoa and Nimrod Geva.
