Despite Durban’s unpredictable summer weather, Germaine and Randhir Premrajh managed to pull off the most beautiful wedding.
Randhir and I met eight years ago. I was managing a family-owned retail store and he was the regional manager for another retail chain. We chatted a few times and kept bumping into each other. A few months after our initial meeting, he asked me out on a date – we’ve been together ever since!
THE PROPOSAL
Randhir proposed two years ago on a beautiful and pristine summer’s evening while on holiday in Thailand. We were on a cruise down the Chao Phraya canal when he popped the question.
We had been engaged for just over a year and had planned absolutely nothing! In February last year, we decided we wanted to be married in November. We were completely unprepared and had very little time to catch up! Because of our different religions, I’m Catholic and Randhir is Hindi, we knew our wedding would require a lot of compromise and sacrifice. We decided to have two traditional, religious ceremonies two weeks prior to our wedding reception day. These ceremonies were kept intimate and private and included immediate family only. Because of our time constraints, we left all planning and execution to the professionals. We were fortunate to work with amazing vendors who made our vision a reality.
THE DRESS
I wanted my wedding dress to be classic and regal. I was fortunate to have Casey Jeanne custom design my dress. I told Casey I wanted an off-the-shoulder mermaid silhouette with lace and tulle detailing. The rest I left in Casey’s talented hands. The end product exceeded all my expectations and the dress tied into the rest of the wedding so beautifully.
THE SUIT
Randhir looked dashing in his classic black tuxedo complete with black Jenna Clifford cuff links.
THE WEDDING DAY
On the 21st November 2015, we celebrated our previous nuptials with 180 of our dear friends and family.
The bouquet…
I carried the most beautiful bouquet of cascading roses.
The decor…
We both have a simple style and wanted that to reflect in the decor. White was our main colour with pastel shades of pink in the floral arrangements to avoid it looking too clinical. I love flowers – especially roses, orchids and hydrangeas – so these were in abundance. We also used a lot of foliage, which added a pop of colour and complemented the rest of the decor perfectly. Floating candles and chandeliers created a soft and romantic look overall.
