Three healthier drink options to consider when at the office

High sugar and caffeine-rich drinks can only get you so far – they’ll boost you for an hour or so and then kick all your productivity into touch leaving only headaches, zero energy and a lack of drive.

According to Greig Jansen, founder and CEO of the Pura Beverage Company, ‘that’s only the tip of the iceberg. With the negative health implications of sugar and caffeine mounting on a regular basis, the time is now to really consider what you reach for prior to that meeting or during your lunch break,’ he says.

Here are Pura Soda’s three healthier office drink suggestions that will help keep your work and health on track, now and in the new year.

Keep It Natural

Healthy life goals aren’t achieved by drinking colourant-filled and artificially sweetened drinks. And it’s safe to say that if you can’t spell the ingredient name or worse, never heard of it, it’s probably not something you should be putting into your body.

So why not consider a good old glass of water? It’s calorie-free and it will keep you hydrated throughout the day. And if you need a little something extra, why not pop some lemon or cucumber into your glass for some added taste?

Less Sugar Better Health

Besides the nasty effects of a sugar crash, excess sugar in beverages is a major contributor to health issues like obesity, type two diabetes and cardiovascular disease. And it’s been proven that just two traditional sodas a week put the average adult way over their recommended sugar intake level.  So why take the risk with traditional sodas? Rather reach for a low sugar soda alternative like Pura Soda.

Go Green

Coffee is not the worst thing you can drink, but it’s not the best thing either – especially if it’s jammed packed with sugar, full cream milk and cream. Flavoured coffees and chai lattes are also a no-no if you’re looking to watch your waist and sugar intake. The average chai latte contains a whopping 240 calories and has the same amount of sugar as a Snickers chocolate bar.

So, if it’s that warm feeling you’re craving, why not opt for a cup of green tea. It not only contains antioxidants that help breakdown fat, but it also reduces appetite and leads to lower and more healthy food intake.
