Hollywood can’t get enough of British men at the moment: Oscars, big-budget film franchises and lucrative modelling contracts – these men are bagging all the best roles. Here are seven of our current favourites.
1 Tom Hughes
You’ve probably seen Tom next to Emma Watson in Burberry’s summer collection campaign, the Cheshire-born lad is known for his work in the TV-series Casualty 1909, Silk and for his role in the rom-com About Time. Hughes is currently starring in the TV drama Victoria with Jenna Coleman.
2 Theo James
If you are a fan of The Divergent Series, chances are you instantly recognised Four. Theo starred in the three movies of the saga and is currently shooting the sequel The Divergent Series: Ascendant, coming to cinemas in June 2017. Next year, Theo will also appear in the mystery film London Fields and in the thriller Underworld: Blood Wars.
3 Daniel Kaluuya
London-born Daniel is a writer and actor known for his work in the FBI-inspired thriller Sicario, the remake of the classic Johnny English, in Johnny English Reborn and for playing next to Chloë Moretz, in the super funny action movie Kick-ass 2.
4 John Boyega
Peckham-born John impressed us in Attack The Block but he’s set for major stardom with his role as Finn in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Seriously, we’re not exaggerating; the franchise made the career of Harrison Ford and its revival could do the same for him. John is currently filming Star Wars: Episode VIII and Pacific Rim: Maelstorm.
5 Douglas Booth
Douglas rose to prominence after his portrayal of Boy George in the BBC Two drama Worried About The Boy. He has since starred in television adaptations of Great Expectations and The Pillars Of The Earth, and has made the transition from television to film with Romeo & Juliet and Posh. Booth also starred in the sci-fi Jupiter Ascending and in the soon-to-be-released Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.
6 David Oyelowo
David didn’t set out to be an actor. He went along with his A-level theatre studies teacher, who suggested he make a career out of it. Whoever his teacher was, he wasn’t wrong – he was the first black man to play the King of England in Henry VI. He also went on to act in The Rise of the Planet of the Apes, The Last King of Scotland and Selma, in which he played Martin Luther King. David is the leading actor in the upcoming inspiring movie Queen of Katwe.
7 Sam Claflin
Sam’s made his name with appearances in The Hunger Games and Snow White And The Huntsman. But he’s moved away from action films with Love, Rosie, Posh and Me Before You.
