Salma Hayek reveals her beauty secrets

Salma Hayek seems to never get it wrong beauty-wise. She knows what works on her: generally, a mix of screen-siren glamour with a nod to her Latino heritage. Classic red-lip included.

Here, Salma talks to us about what changes she makes to her beauty routine come winter, her beauty bad-habits and why she would NEVER sleep with her makeup on.

What is your favourite seasonal beauty look?

Red lips. They make you look dressed up really fast. I think it looks good on everyone as long as you know how to pick the right shade or the right texture.

Another beauty tip is to drink extra water. We think about drinking lot of water when it’s hot but we forget how dehydrated our skin gets when it’s cold. It’s also very important to moisturise extra or to get a thicker moisturiser that protects you from the cold. We don’t sleeping enough, we drink more than usual, eat more than usual and the weather doesn’t help. Our skin needs extra help over Christmas.

Do you ever sleep with your makeup on?

Never.

Do you have any bad beauty habits?

No matter how bad my habits are I always take my makeup off before bed. Even if I’m exhausted or sick I take it off. I have the bad habit of not exercising, not eating healthy food.  I have the bad habit of liking wine and cocktails. I’m sometimes lazy with the maintenance. Altogether it’s a lot of work. I don’t pluck my eyebrows for 90% of the year. But one thing I always do is take my makeup off.

Besides spilling her Christmas style secrets, Salma is also one of the celebrity ambassadors for the Kering Foundation’s White Ribbon Campaign. She explains why the campaign is so important to her in the video below:
