The TikTok Awards Sub‑Saharan Africa brought together content creators, music artists, storytellers and tastemakers from across the continent all under one roof at The Forum in Hyde Park. Under the theme, New Era, New Icons, guests, nominees and honourees were dressed to the nines, ready to celebrate a year of viral moments, trendsetting content and bold creativity.
In partnership with inDrive and NIVEA, the event solidified Africa’s presence on the global stage, recognising African talent not just as a market but as a movement. Renowned dancer and choreographer, Bontle Modiselle‑Moloi was the MC for the evening, and her infectious energy set the tone for a pleasant, high-energy evening.
The artist line-up affirmed that this was more than an awards evening but a celebration of the continent’s freshest sound and vibe. Featuring Afro-fusion artist Ciza, who’s currently riding the wave of his viral track, “Isaka (6am)”, Lord Kez; her vocals and soulful R&B presence filled the hall. Her hit “Aweh” has been topping South Africa’s R&B charts for weeks, and seeing it come alive on stage, smooth, raw, and deeply emotional was a highlight. Thabsie, known for blending pop and R&B with ease, Thabsie delivered a performance full of heart and style; her stage presence reminded everyone why she’s a mainstay in South Africa’s music scene. Thuli P, as the night’s DJ, kept the crowd moving, weaving through tracks that captured the vibe of 2025; Afro‑fused, global, and unapologetically African. Between performances, the atmosphere was glitz, glam, and genuine appreciation; a reminder that creativity, community, and cultural expression are winning in a big way this year.
Beyond performances, the real story was the creators, artists, and influencers who took home awards; proof that hard work, creativity, and connection matter in 2025.
