Two well-known South Africans celebrities escaped their daily routines this December with a little help from Nissan and the popular Magnite.
Nissan invited Akhonamathemba Mbele-Zwane (better known as Sweet Guluva) and Nefisa Mkhabela to choose a Magnite of their choice, load up their gear, grab their best friends, and head out on an adventure well outside their everyday lives.
The two influencers selected models that reflected their personal styles. Sweet Guluva opted for the limited-edition Magnite Kuro in Flare Garnet Red, featuring sleek Onyx Black detailing. Nefisa chose the Magnite Acenta Plus in Vivid Blue, equipped with a CVT transmission for a smooth getaway with friends.
Both models are powered by Nissan’s renowned 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine. Standard luxuries include LED headlights, smart keyless entry, ambient lighting, and an 8-inch touchscreen with full smartphone integration.
Beyond the style and creature comforts, both drivers and their passengers were protected by Nissan’s structural safety cell. The upgraded Magnite boasts a five-star GNCAP crash test rating, supported by features such as six airbags, ABS brakes with Electronic Stability Control and Nissan’s popular Around View Monitor. The latter is standard on both models and offer a bird’s eye view of the Magnite during low-speed manoeuvring from its four-camera array.
With their Magnites packed, Nefisa and Sweet Guluva set off for Mount Grace, located just outside Magaliesberg. They chose a scenic route that put the SUV's versatility to the test on several stretches of dirt roads.
“The off-road driving surprised me the most,” said Sweet Guluva. “The Magnite definitely looks the part, but I was really impressed by how comfortably it handled the rougher dirt roads on our way to Mount Grace.”
Nefisa was equally impressed by the interior technology.
“The infotainment system was my favourite part of the weekend. The sound from the surround-sound system was out of this world, and the touchscreen was responsive and easy to use, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto built-in.”
The duo captured their highlights in a series of videos, which will be released every Tuesday on Instagram and TikTok. The final episode will air on Friday, 9 January, where they will share their ultimate trip highlights.
