With a rise that quickly captured attention across the country, Tarryn Reid and Clairise Hefke, the dynamic duo behind TxC, have become one of South Africa’s most recognisable DJ acts. But their talent hasn't stopped at the country's borders, their recent BET nomination is a powerful nod to their relentless work ethic and undeniable impact from the very beginning.
TxC is one of four South African acts nominated for the BET Best International Act 2025, alongside Tyla, Maglera Doe Boy, and Dlala Thukzin. This nomination is historic, marking TxC as the first DJ duo ever to be recognised in this category at the BET Awards.
Speaking to GLAMOUR about the honour, the duo said: “We are honoured to be nominated at the BET Awards, especially as the first female DJ duo. It gives us a seat at the global table and shows that South African culture and sound are being recognised around the world.”
With two albums to their name (A Fierce Piano and Turn Off the Lights) featuring heavyweights like Davido and Daliwonga, TxC have created music that resonates both locally and internationally. Originally from Gqeberha, the duo first gained widespread attention after going viral on social media in the early 2020s. But it’s their consistent hustle, not just the hype, that has solidified their place as one of Africa’s most talented DJ collectives.
Rooted in the Amapiano scene, both artists bring unique energy to their performances. Clairise takes command behind the decks, while Tarryn is known for energising crowds with her dance moves, and both their finely tuned musical ear ensures every note connects with the audience.
Congratulations to TxC on their well-deserved BET nomination, a moment of pride not only for the duo but for South African music as a whole. Their journey is a powerful reminder that passion, perseverance, and authenticity will always resonate, both at home and across the globe.
