Just beyond the bustle of Stellenbosch, tucked into the beautiful Banhoek Valley, lies one of the Winelands’ most unexpected summer destinations. Known for its cult-favourite chilli oils, Banhoek Chilli Farm has quietly evolved into a place where food lovers can linger for hours, eating, exploring, and discovering something new.
At the heart of the experience is the Taste Kitchen, where a refreshed Summer 2026 menu has been designed for relaxed dining. The menu celebrates seasonal ingredients and the standout dishes include:
- The Asian Chicken Bowl: Marinated, grilled chicken with carrot ribbons, cucumber kimchi, edamame, cashews, sesame seeds, cabbage and avocado. Served over fragrant jasmine-coconut rice- Hake and Chips. Golden, crispy battered hake served with your choice of fries or a fresh garden salad and tartare sauce.
- The Roasted Mediterranean Salad: Layered with charred vegetables, halloumi and hummus, lifted by the smoky richness of BCO Chipotle Oil.
- The Plankie Steak: 200g grilled steak, paired with your choice of fries or a fresh garden salad, finished with a chimichurri drizzle
- Creamy mussels in a white wine sauce: Fresh, steamed mussels in a rich, creamy white wine sauce with garlic, butter, and a touch of parsley. Served with toasted sourdough for dipping All of which are given an unmistakable Banhoek twist with a drizzle of any of the Banhoek Chilli Oils.
But Banhoek Chilli Farm is more than a meal, it’s a full-day destination. After lunch, visitors can wander through the largest chilli deli in the Southern Hemisphere, home to more than 150 chilli-inspired products, from sauces and snacks to preserves and pantry favourites. Tastings encourage curiosity, and it’s easy to leave with a new appreciation for just how versatile chilli can be.
From there, enjoy a drink in the Leopard Lounge with sweeping valley views, gather around the outdoor braai area for a laid-back afternoon, or get adventurous with Scootours through the Stellenbosch countryside or an archery session on the farm. Wine lovers can round out the experience with curated tastings at the Banhoek Wine Club, featuring some of the region’s standout producers.
This summer, Banhoek Chilli Farm offers something increasingly rare in the Winelands: a place where you don’t rush from tasting to tasting, but arrive, stay, and savour.
Whether you come for the food, the views, or the thrill of discovering a hidden gem, you’ll leave inspired, and with a little extra heat in your step.
