Nothing quite matches the feeling of a day (or night) well spent than getting lost in live music. With the long weekend around the corner, there’s no shortage of things to do, but let’s be honest, endlessly scrolling to find the right event can get overwhelming and a little tedious.
That’s where we come in. If live music is your vibe, we’ve taken the time to sift through the noise and highlight some of the most exciting upcoming shows in Cape Town and Joburg. All that’s left for you to do is show up and enjoy.
Karyn White
Get ready for a night of pure R&B nostalgia under the stars. Global soul icon Karyn White is set to light up the stage at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden on 2 April and for a one-night-only performance, and trust, this is not one to miss. From Superwoman to Romantic, expect timeless hits, powerhouse vocals, and all the emotion that made her a legend.
And it gets even better… Ami Faku will be joining her on stage, bringing a fresh, modern soul energy to what’s already shaping up to be an unforgettable night.
She will also be in Durban, Nekkies and Sun City
Mdu Masilela
Untitled Basement presents The Legacy Series, kicking things off with South Africa’s kwaito superstar. With a career spanning over three decades, Mdu Masilela remains a defining voice in the genre. Catch him live on 4 April for a night that celebrates the roots and evolution of kwaito.
Kitso Seti
Cape Town-based artist Kitso Seti is set to launch his album SONS OF PERDITION: UMDYARHO WAMABUZI on 4 April at Trenchtown. Expect an intimate yet powerful performance that showcases his unique sound and storytelling.
Joburg Bass Fest
Underground heads, this is your one. Proper bass, drum & bass energy taking over Strydompark. Two stages, UK + local DJs—this is not mainstream, it’s for people who actually go out.
So before you open another tab to “check what’s happening,” start here. Whether you’re in the mood for soulful classics, kwaito legends, or something fresh and local, this weekend’s live music lineup has you covered.
