Flash Back Monday: GLAMOUR Hosts Inaugural Wellness Event in Cape Town

GLAMOUR Magazine, in partnership with Adidas,Clicks and Cape Racing, hosted its first-ever Wellness event in Cape Town on Sunday, 04 April 2024.

Over 200 people gathered at Cape Racing despite the cloudy skies and warnings of gale force winds. The event featured our esteemed readers as well as VIP guests including Content Creator Diva Dolz, Tik Tok sensation and Glamour Cover Star Nadia Jaftha, Fashion and Lifestyle Influencer Abongwe Qokela, and entrepreneur Aisha Baker. Rush Tush held it down as the host with the most - igniting positive energy throughout the event.

The day kicked off with yoga and pilates instructed by Adidas trainer Dominique Leclercq - she bought calm and stillness with each breath - granting the audience a moment of self-reflection as they stretched their bodies.

Opening the first panel discussion was Rush Tush and GLAMOUR’s Editor-In-Chief Nontando Mposo highlighting the chronicles of motherhood during the Beauty Bump discussion sponsored by Clicks. The conversation delved into mental and physical changes women go through during and after pregnancy and ways to overcome them

Attendees were indulged to a nail conversation with Sorbet talking all things nails with GLAMOUR’s Beauty Editor Jese Lillienfeldt and Tarryn Kay van Louw. They explored on nail techniques and the importance of keeping healthy nails. The conversation was complimented by a live Sorbet activation with guests treated to a manicure.

Smudge took it up a notch with a beauty Masterclass demonstrating the best way to add depth and compliment your eyes with the right eyeshadow.


The day resumed with Dr Zenda who enlightened the audience on sexual health, sharing tips and tricks to maintain a well balanced sexual lifestyle.

Adidas Sports bra expert and brand manager Gabi discussed the significance of wearing the right sports bra size, she detailed the process of choosing the best bra for support and comfortability - she also touched on breast health - emphasising the importance of early detection and regular self examination to combat breast cancer.

To keep up with the day’s full agenda we had selection of healthy snacks and drinks. Blue Ribbon had guests coming for more of their delicious sandwiches. Sir Fruit healthy shots were the perfect boost of energy in keeping a revitalised audience while GNC had an open bar of healthy protein shakes to fuel the body. Not to be left behind - guests with sweet tooth were covered by Hello Sunday frozen ice creams, after all what’s an event without a little bit of desert.

With overflowing bubbles and wine courtesy of Weltevredeand Klein Constantia guests took turns to explore the activations while fostering a sense of community and connection.

As part of a wholesome exploration attendees were treated to soothing massages - from full body, to tension and back pain relief massage. Deep Heat, Body Shop and My Earth made sure the guests steal a moment to relax and de-stress while Sport science performed vital body assessments to ensure the ladies kept a healthy working body.

The event brought a symbiotic atmosphere from young to old the room was full of exuberating energy. Throughout the day attendees also enjoyed a range of activities including the invigorating ice bath challenge by Chillin sponsored by clicks.

The fun did not end there - to add an extra layer of excitement, there were spot prizes all throughout the day. Our sponsors generously donated some amazing prizes including Rush Tush pharmaceuticals , Clicks beauty bump hamper and the Adidas voucher worth R10 000 and more.

Ending the event on a high energy was Adidas HIIT instructor Mapule Ndhlovu who elevated the house to new heights, participants had their hearts pumping to the the sound of her voice and electrifying playlist.
